Qualification & Application procedure for Police Constable

  • Candidates can apply only through online application available at the website of the Kerala Public Service Commission.
  • Conventional type application for the post will be summarily rejected.
  • Selection will be made on Battalion-wise basis. Candidates appointed to the Battalion will be allowed transfer only to the concerned District Armed Reserve Police.
  • Scale of Pay : Rs. 5930-9590/-
  • Method of Appointment : Direct Recruitment (Battalion wise)
  • Age : 18-28 [Only Candidates who have complete 18 years on 1st January are eligible to apply for this post.]
  • Physically Handicapped persons are not eligible to apply .
  • Educational Qualifications : Pass in S.S.L.C or its equivalent
  • Physical Qualifications for men :
    (i) Height : 167 cm
    (ii) Chest : 81 cm with a minimum expansion of 5 cm
    (iii) Eye Sight : Must be certified to possess the visual standards specified below without glasses.Vision: a. Distant Vision b. Near Vision
    Right Eye: 6/6 Snellen 0.5 Snellen
    Left Eye: 6/6 Snellen 0.5 Snellen
  • Each Eye must have a full field of vision. Colour blindness, squint or any morbid conditions of the Eye or lids of either eye will be deemed to be a disqualification.
  • Must be free from apparent physical defects like Knock-knee, Flat foot, Vericose vein, Bow legs, Deformed limbs, Irregular and protruding tooth. Defective speech and hearing.
    • Physical Qualifications for women :
      (i) Height : 152 cm
      (ii) Eye Sight : Must be certified to possess the visual standards specified below without glasses.Vision: a. Distant Vision b. Near Vision

      Left Eye: 6/6 Snellen 0.5 Snellen

  • The physical measurement of candidates will be taken at the time of physical efficiency test and those who do not possess the prescribed physical measurement will not be admitted for the physical efficiency test If accidents or injuries happen to a candidate while participating in the Physical efficiency Test, he will not be given further chance to participate in the test.
  • The candidates should produce a Medical Certificate in original in the form prescribed here under certifying to their physical fitness and eye sight without glasses, at the time of physical efficiency Test. The Medical Certificate should be one obtained from a Medical officer under the Government no below the rank of an Assistant Surgeon.

  • Note: Details regarding standards of vision should be clearly stated in the Certificate as given above and vague statement such as Vision ‘Normal’ etc. will not be accepted. Specification for each eye should be stated separately. If the specifications are not as indicated above, the officers issuing the Certificate should certify whether the candidate has got better standards of vision or worse standards of vision as the case may be, otherwise the Certificate will not be accepted.
  • Mode of Submitting applications :- Candidates shall submit the application through online only Applications should be submitted only by online facility provided in the website of the Kerala Public Service Commission. Detailed instruction regarding the submission of the applications are available in the website of the Kerala Public Service Commission viz. www.keralapsc.gov.in. No application fee is required. The candidates should keep the print out of their applications and the barcode number shall be quoted in all further enquiries/correspondence. Documents to prove qualification, age and community etc. have to be produced as and when called for. Applications which are submitted not in accordance with the instruction given in the website will be summarily rejected.
